Mt Le Conte

The trek to the summit of Mt Le Conte is often considered the most quintessential Great Smoky Mountains National Park hike. There are many ways to get to the top of Mt. Le Conte, but the shortest and most popular is via the Alum Cave Trail. This hike takes you not only to the summit of the third highest peak in the park, but it passes through the impressive 80’ high Alum Cave as well.

Be prepared, however, as this is a strenuous hike. You will climb about 2,850’ in 5.5 miles in order to reach the peak.
