Utah Department of Public Safety authorities who were counting big horn sheep from the sky made a shocking discovery in the Utah desert last week.
A large metallic monolith was spotted from a helicopter, and the crew landed to examine the structure up close. According to reports, the monolith was about 10-12 feet tall.
“That’s been about the strangest thing that I’ve come across out there in all my years of flying,” pilot Bret Hutchings said of the Utah monolith. The monolith discovery made news around Utah and across the nation this week.
Apparently located on a rattlesnake speedway in the Utah desert, the monolith is in a remote portion of the Utah desert. Authorities didn’t reveal its location, and are asking people not to go looking for it, as it’s very remote. They also noted that the closest access road is in disrepair. The likelihood of someone becoming stranded looking for this monolith is high, they warned.
While the structure evokes ideas of extra-terrestrials, officials believe it to be man-made.
“I’d say it’s probably between 10 and 12 feet-high,” Hutchings said. “We were kind of joking around that if one of us suddenly disappears, then the rest of us make a run for it.”
