Monument Valley Transformed after Snowfall

by Peter Stringer

Monument Valley unfolds in front of you in such spectacular fashion. You’ve definitely got to visit Monument Valley on the Utah/Arizona border. It’s an iconic American destination.

However, Monument Valley delivers even more impressive visuals with a blanket of snow.

On my most recent trip across the Arizona/Utah border, I made briefly stopped through to see what it would look like a few days after a snowfall. I wasn’t disappointed.

Seated in the Navajo Nation in the southwest, the valley is famed for striking sandstone formations. In some cases, these rocks reach up to 1,000 feet into the sky. Especially at sunset and dusk, theycut a distinct profile against the desert sky. You’ll notice them on the horizon from several miles away.
