Walk Main Street in Breckenridge
In the middle of winter, Breckenridge puts up some great light displays downtown. Walk around Main Street at night for a cool view of the town. Just be sure to bundle up as it can get cold and snowy!

Best Hikes Quandary – Climb a 14er
One of many Coloradans’ favorite pastimes is climbing one of the many 14ers, peaks above 14,000 feet tall, around the state. Quandary Peak is located a little outside of the town. This shorter 6-mile hike packs a punch. Keep an eye out for those early afternoon thunderstorms, especially when hiking in July and August.
Hike the Blue Lakes Trail
For visitors who want to keep it more mellow, the Blue Lakes Trail is a popular hiking trail in Breckenridge. This one-mile trail takes hikers below some of Colorado’s high peaks and is a great place for people to stop and eat a quick lunch before hiking back down.
Find the Breckenridge Troll
This 15-foot high wooden sculpture is nestled in the woods just a short walk from the main street in Breck. This local’s secret is a great way to spend the day after exploring the town. If you want a bit more of an adventure, connect some of the trails near the Troll and make it a longer hike.
Backpack Segment 7 Colorado Trail
Part of the Colorado Trail is located in Breckenridge and is a great place to do a day hike or backpack a section for those who are keen to sleep under the stars. The nearly 500-mile long trail spans most of the state, but segment 7 is only 12 miles one way. It makes a great day hike with a shuttle or one night there and back. Some enjoy mountain biking this section as well.
Drive Hoosier Pass
Technically this road can be driven year-round, but depending on snowfall, it may bring more excitement than you are looking for. This drive to the top of the pass provides stunning views of the continental divide. Those who like looking at fall colors will particularly enjoy this drive during the autumn months.

Breckenridge weather is similar to the weather in most of Colorado’s mountain towns. In the winter, you can expect an average of about 0°F as the low and 20°F as the high. The more layers the better when visiting Breck in the winter.
In the summer, Breckenridge is a good escape from the heat in Denver and the rest of the Front Range. Average highs are 68°F, but as many locals will like to tell you, it can snow any time of the year, so don’t bury the jacket too deeply in your pack.
